This website and the book that I wrote to help little ones through their parents’ divorce are the help I needed when I was a child of divorce, with the honesty I need as a mom.
My parents divorced when I was 13, and I went through my own divorce before I had children. Then I became a mom. Then I wrote the book (it’s coming, it’s coming…I’m working on the last few printing tweaks).
It’s for kids. It tells the truth. It doesn’t wrap divorce in a pretty bow, but it gives them the space they need to work through it in a positive, confident way. It has pages to draw on, notepads to fill in, places to ask their own questions, and permission to feel angry, confused, or totally fine. It also helps them to identify how they feel when the world feels like a very confusing place…and emotions are the biggest mystery of all.
If you’re a parent, you’re not here because you want to be. You’re here because someone’s hurting and you don’t have all the answers. Me neither. But I have this book.
